Q&A with a web developer; Daniel Worthington

Being a company that specialises in the creation of websites, one of the most important roles within Physio123 is that of a web developer. In our offices you will find any web developer either building a new site from scratch, making changes to a client’s websites or finding new tools, techniques and tricks to help them code. We had the opportunity to sit down with one of our web developers, Daniel, so we could pick his brain on all things web related, his day to day tasks and even got to find out who he thinks the bossiest in the office is.

How did you get into web development?

I would say my uncle got me into web development. He used to be a web solution architect and every time I saw him he would tell me lots of stories about what he’s been doing but he always talked so passionately and sounded like he loved his job. It made me curious and want to explore the World of web myself.

What is your most memorable (Physio123) project?

I would have to say the first Physio123 website I ever built. I’d built websites previous to this job however none of them had much meaning. This is the first website where I thought it had a useful purpose and was actually helping someone. To this day the first customer I built that website for is still with us. It’s a great feeling.

Do you have any inspirations when you are building your website?

I take inspiration from everywhere and everyone but mostly my fellow colleagues and web developers. They are a lot more experienced than I am and have gained lots of industry knowledge – I ask for their advice a lot. I suppose we all help each other in a way – we provide each other with feedback and all work in pushing each other to improve how we code and to try new things.

Where do you see yourself in the next few years?

I would like to try doing more freelance stuff and eventually develop website software myself that would help me and hopefully others in the whole website design process. Luke’s just built a UI kit that helps build websites faster and its made everyone’s job a little easier. I would like to contribute more to the team in that way.

I feel like we’ve got to know more about your job role but we’d like to know a little bit more about office life.

What’s it like being part of the Physio123 team?

Not to sound cheesy but it’s like being part of a second family. God, that did sound cheesy didn’t it?

I like that we are all working on a common goal – we are all perfectionists so tend to push ourselves to work better.

What’s the best advice you’ve got from someone in the office?

Last week I was debating whether to do something to a project and Luke said to me “don’t dwell on the risks, just go for it”, so I did and it paid off. I think that’s my new motto.

What’s the best works night out you’ve had?

It has to be the Christmas do. Everyone was there and were just out for a good time – time to relax, enjoy and reflect on the year that has passed.

What are your plans for the rest of the day?

I’m excited to start a new PhysioOne website so will be looking at designing the wireframes this afternoon.

And now, a little quick fire round about the people you work with…

In the office who is…

The messiest – Steven. I am constantly cleaning up after him and his half filled pepsi bottles that he leaves around the office.
The funniest – Luke – he has some brilliant one liners.
The bossiest – Rebecca. She is constantly telling me what to do and checking up on me.
Is the best dressed –  Milda. She hands down had the best Christmas Jumper I have ever since.
Is the loudest – Rebecca. I can always hear her laughing in meetings from the other side of the room.

Its been great to talk to you Daniel, we just have one final question…what did you have for tea last night?

Our family’s Sunday tradition – a Sunday Roast.

Talk to the experts.
